About Lymphedema . . .

Understanding Lymphedema
Lymphedema is a chronic condition that occurs when the lymphatic system is compromised, leading to the accumulation of lymphatic fluid in the tissues and resulting in swelling—most commonly in the arms or legs.

This can happen due to damage or removal of lymph nodes, often after cancer treatment, surgery, or trauma, but it can also be present from birth (primary lymphedema). Over time, lymphedema can cause discomfort, reduced mobility, and skin changes if not managed properly.

While there is currently no cure, early diagnosis and consistent management through techniques such as manual lymphatic drainage, compression therapy, gentle exercise, and specialised therapies like Flowpresso® can greatly improve quality of life and reduce symptoms.
